I've been running a Star Wars game set in the Old Republic about 3700 years before A New Hope during the Mandalorian Wars. The group is a part of a Spec Ops Team for the Republic.

Jon has been doing a classic D&D. We were playing in 4th Ed but it looks like we are going to be reverting back to 3.x.

Mike whenever he gets a chance to come down does a D&D as well.

Yeah, when Oskar (mdamour1) joined, we wrote him in as the survivor the party ran across. When he didn't show up for the next game, he stayed behind, but gave the party a coin of location; basically, a coin of plot device.

Remember in the D&D movie, when Snails, the chick mage, and the pretty dude were going to the cave, and suddenly an invisible barrier activated after the pretty dude walked in? D&D is really like that -- it was like, in the movie's "real world" those 2 characters didn't show up, so the DM threw in the barrier as a deus ex machina to make it only that 1 dude's character.

So tell me about y'alls games. What's been happening there?

That's kind of how we have been doing our games lately. Instead of the long drawn out campaign the games are more like episodic chapters in a season. Since our player base fluctuates every month it seems easier to write characters in and out of the over arcing story.

Milo's player left the game, so I put him on a bus. The new PC (Oskar) is a new, different player.

did Milo's player leave the game or just changed characters?

Yeah, I forgot to add the spoil tag back when I rebuilt TGH... You can wrap [ spoil ] around your spoiler [ / spoil ] (without the spaces in the tags). I'll add that button tonight-ish.

Spoiler Alert!

Ugak is really just middle management. There are 3 lords who are conspiring to overthrow the kingdom. This was a low-level quest that was mainly an excuse to bash orcs and build XP. It's a minor thing, and looks like it may get abandoned for some other things. The kidnapped wizard came out of needing to add a new PC mid-game (Oskar). And that was just a natural transition into the bigger quest I wanted to start the party on, which is collecting the artifacts to restart the travel sphere. And from there, I can do a bunch of one-off, higher level runs in random settings, including extra-planar stuff.

For the maps, those are just drawn in photoshop. I've never been able to find a good cartography program that makes for good hand-drawn-looking maps.

That's what I was wondering. I'm guessing Ugak serves someone or thing greater? I don't know how to do the spoiler tags.

What program did you use to make the maps?

The Shoggoth was most likely destroyed 500 years ago; in that final battle, the region known as the Burnt Lands was created as a result (the battle was that devastating). In reality...

Spoiler Alert!
(the players don't know this yet, but) the Shoggoth was only banished. In fact, there's a great travel sphere that can go between different parts of the world (and even other planes) which is how the Yeha-noha got here in the first place; the Shoggoth was shoved into the travel sphere's tunnels where it can't escape. The Rods of Kadriel power the sphere. But using the sphere could free the Shoggoth... >:)

I like it so far. I'm thinking this Lord Ugak is pulling a Sarumon and building an army to amass power. Was the Shoggoth killed in the battle way back when or was it just banished back to wherever it came from?

I'm glad you found a group you can game with up there.

Hey guys,
Check out my current D&D campaign: Bâleth.

I'd really like to know what you guys think of it so far. I'd also like to know what you (looking at the clues and story so far) think is going on.
