Well, I think I've got my credit reports as clean as I'm gonna get them for now. I've still got 1 negative showing up on 2/3 of the bureaus, but that's not so bad... Although, today another credit card raised my limit substantially...Chains, we need to write a book on this shit. How to clean up your credit without doing stupid shit -- no debt consolodation, no paying for credit reports (my only expense so far has been a few bucks-worth of stamps), no court, etc... just plain patience and knowing what to say/write. Although, I'd still like to get my hands on that damn FICO formula... |

Speaking of reports...my FICO just went up another 40 points... of course, this is dated June 1, and it's still showing my snapshot as worse than I know it really is (this is b/c i'm getting month-old reports from my credit card company, who gets month-old reports from trans-union...), so I'm sure it'll go up a little bit more over the next few months. Although, La and I decided to wait until next February to buy a house, so we've got plenty of time to get the rest of the cards paid off, and credit reports cleaned up a little more... |

Where does it show that an account was disputed on a credit report?

[quote]Posted: Tuesday, June 21, 2005 at 9:21 pm EDT
Just FYI before you go getting repos. I've looked at a lot of credit reports and I have seen many that had disputed accounts. This may help your score go up but the ones I have seen do show that the accounts were disputed. From a lenders standpoint, that could be possible on 1, maybe two accounts...but if they see that on multiple accounts then something fishy is usually going on. My advice is don't get repos and never pay your house payment late. And if that does happen, try not to let it happen again.Oh yeah, and there is a section on the end of your report for explanations of credit issues. Try not to sound like a retard if you use that...be very breif. Lenders don't care if the neighbors dog chewed up your cell phone that the UPS guy left on the doorstep and you shouldn't have to pay for it. |

beware the run-ons dude...Yeah, that's what i did about a month and a half ago -- i called up my credit card companies, 1 by 1, and asked them to look at my account (to look at the fact that i pay on time every month, and more than the minimum payment everytime), and see what they could do. most of them basically asked me what i get from other cards, and they would match whatever i told them. i basically got all my cards down to around 9.something. some even offered promotional deals to do shit like 0% on transfers for 6 months or a year. |

on that note.....you need to call the company and ask them to lower there rate cause you have been concerned about your higher intrest rate and that you found a company with a lower rate that your gonna transfer to but wanted to call you guys first to see if we can avoid that by them lowering there rate cause we really want to stay with you but just cant see paying that high of intrest. just basicly bluff them.hope that helps and that was one long sentence...lol |

It is great when they decide your limit can be higher......however, Chris and I had a credit card that "rewarded" us by giving a higher limit but also decided that since they gave us a higher limit would also give us a higher interest rate. Bunch of jack...... We would of rather kept the lower limit and lower rate. Doesn't matter anymore cause we changed cards.

OK, I gotta say, I'm totally digging the results of all my credit investigations. My credit, according to the loan officer at my bank (when asking about a mortgage loan), "is very good". Fuckin-a! Also, I've had several credit cards recently up my limit by several thousand bucks -- shit, I could buy a car on a credit card if I wanted... Although, I have one more thing to take off my credit. I figure, push comes to shove, if I'm planning to apply for a loan or something, I'll initiate an investigation 2 weeks before I apply -- they can't factor in a negative account if it's in investigation, so your credit check is a lot better. |

Aight Chains, thought you might like to know...I got my TransUnion results back today, and they deleted 4 negatives, including my 2 student loans. however, the fuckers added a collections on a bad check i wrote a LONG time ago (still within 7 years though) that hadn't been there before. but, that's the only thing that seems to be appearing anymore. so, here goes round 3 of disputes... Yeah, this disputing thing seems to be working, which I have to admit -- I was skeptical as all hell. but fuckin-a. And it helps that I've made out a credit card and loan repayment schedule in Excell (well, OpenOffice Spreadsheet). I put in all my current debt, APRs, and how much per month I want to spend on debt repayment. Then I can spread the payments out to the creditors that will charge the highest finance charges that month, and pay the most to them. Sice current revolving credit balances account for 35% of your FICO score, that'll also knock the score upwards a little bit. The way it's going, I'll be paying off a loan/credit card per month starting next month through the rest of the year (including the Aztek whoot!). If'n anybody's interested, I can hook them up with a copy. |

I had the day off of work today, and so I was missing the burocracy. So I decided to call my credit card companies...Anyway, I started calling around today to get them to lower my APR. And so far, I'm batting 1.000. In one case, I talked them into cutting it in half. It's amazing that they already have lower pre-calculated APRs available just for asking (b/c they sure as hell won't just flat out offer it to ya). Now, I'm gonna work on getting them to waive balance transfer fees, and try and get all my balances on the card with the lowest rate. |

Yeah, and appearantly, disputing anything is like pleading "not guilty" in a court of law. once you do that, it requires the credit bureau to prove your guilt, basically. And you're under no obligation under any law what you dispute. It's kinda cool like that. |

ok this is what i did....and i even had a judgement against medespute EVERY BAD MARK ON YOUR REPORT. dont do it online...send in a letter and in that letter include a copy of your drivers licenses and social security card. and in the letter put that you are about to buy a house and that the false reporting on your report is causeing you is causing major problems. tell them that you expect all the negative reports you have listed in this letter to be taken off within 30 days. and make sure you sign it. NOW....you will get a report back in a few weeks with all the things that they took off....more than likely they wont take off EVERYTHING but they will take off some (depending what you had on there in the first place). Now your second letter is the key. Again list everything they didnt take off from the first letter, even if they say they cant take it off. This time you put in your letter that this false reporting is RUINING YOUR LIFE, causing you and your wife emotional destress and that you know your rights and blah blah and that if these negative reports that you have again listed in this letter is not taken off in 15 days from the time you recieve this letter you will be seeking legal councel for this gross negligence on your part. and that will usually do it. if you want to give it a month or so till you use that last one you can but i didnt wait....i sent it right away after i got my first letter back....and they took it ALL OFFFFFFFF. even my judgement against me. i told my friend to do what i did and they took off his BK but it took a few months longer than me. |

Hey, does anyone know where I could get my hands on the Fair Isaac Co. scoring system for calculating your credit? I know what my current FICO score is, and I have my credit reports from the Big Three (there is at least one perk to living in Georgia -- mandatory free credit reports). I want to calculate what my FICO score is in the future without paying some organization to calculate it for me.
